Home Additions

If you’ve been dreaming of a home addition and have home addition plans ratting your dreams, then look no further. Stillwater Construction is ready to partner with you as your room addition contractor.

Whether you have a growing family which means the need for more space or you just want more space to play and relax in, we’ve taken on home additions of all kinds. We know that the thought of moving can create tension within the family, especially if you love the home you are in and just wish you had more of it to go around. We’ve worked with clients on home addition projects for the kitchen and laundry room. We’ve added bedrooms and bathrooms to an existing home. We’ve even added second stories when the only place to grow was to go up. Whatever addition you are looking for, we can create one that looks like it was intended as part of the original design.

Typical home additions include:

Conventional house additions

These additions involve adding a multi-room (or single room) structure to the side or back of an existing residential property. The addition becomes permanently open to the main house. When built well, the house addition blends into and becomes the house itself, and feels like it was there to begin with. Typical home additions include the add of a great room, dining room, family room, bathroom, guest bedroom, or master bedroom. Though custom conventional home additions can be costly with expenses rarely dipping below five figures, full-size house additions are intended to bring high value in relation to their building cost.

Room addition or bump-outs

In these cases, the homeowner is usually just looking for some additional square footage added to an existing room or space. Basically, a single-room addition or house bump-out is like an addition, but scaled far down. Some room additions or bump-outs are only 50 square feet or so, designed to make the room more comfortable or accessible. Many homeowners add a bump-out to make room for a kitchen island, or to upgrade a half bathroom to a full bathroom. Room additions and bump-outs result in a new roofline. While these types of additions are more affordable than traditional full-size, conventional additions, they are not without significant cost. And just like a conventional house addition, these additions are still subject to building codes, permits, and inspections.

Sun rooms

If you have a large yard and plenty of space to expand your home, a sun room can be a great custom home addition. These spaces are usually designed to be shut-off from the main part of the house during the off-season, but can be made as a space that will be enjoyable year-round. Sun rooms should not be viewed as an alternative to a conventional addition. Many sun rooms are built with pre-fabricated materials, leaving the rooms not suitable for permanent sleeping areas. Whatever type of sun room you are looking for, Stillwater Builders can ensure that the right room is designed for your space and needs.

Garage addition or conversion

Growing families and needs often means the need for more garage space. Whether you have a teenage driver that needs a place to park the third car or you have accumulated some new toys along the way, a garage addition can help keep your home more organized and protect all of those costly investments.

Whatever home addition you are looking for, our designers and skilled contractors will provide you with modern home addition ideas to ensure you are confident working with us as your home or room addition contractor.
